Broadcast Management Group captured interviews and ENG content in Cleveland, OH and Philadelphia, PA, which were edited into packages and integrated into two separate 60-minute specials, which were shot at a studio location in Washington, DC. The RNC took place at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH with the DNC taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. In each city, Broadcast Management Group booked a local production crew to shoot ENG content, consisting of interviews, news packages, and daily news briefs. At various points throughout the day, content was uploaded to a team of editors in New York, who would edit the content into completed video packages.

Project Overview

Broadcast Management Group was contracted to provide live production services, technical management, production staffing, and creative services for BET’s “UnCONVENTIONAL” special, which covered the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2016. Broadcast Management Group captured interviews and ENG content in Cleveland, OH and Philadelphia, PA, which were edited into packages and integrated into two separate 60-minute specials, which were shot at a studio location in Washington, DC.

The RNC took place at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH with the DNC taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. In each city, Broadcast Management Group booked a local production crew to shoot ENG content, consisting of interviews, news packages, and daily news briefs. At various points throughout the day, content was uploaded to a team of editors in New York, who would edit the content into completed video packages. On the Saturday immediately following each Convention, Broadcast Management Group helped to produce a 60-minute live production covering the major events that took place during each Convention. The studio component of BET’s “UnCONVENTIONAL” series included a host, co-host, and numerous guests as well as the field packages that were shot in each city.

Broadcast Management Group hired two ENG crews in each market – Cleveland and Philadelphia – which consisted of a 2 ENG Camera Operators and 2 ENG Audio Operators. We traveled 2 Field Producers to both cities and assigned 1 Producer to each ENG team. We also traveled a Production Manager to both cities to ensure everything ran smoothly and on time. In New York, Broadcast Management Group booked an Executive Producer, 3 Editors, and a Media Manager. They were responsible for organizing content coming in from the field and editing packages which would be included in the live production. The studio component of BET’s “UnCONVENTIONAL” series was shot at the Newseum in Washington, DC. All studio production crew were booked locally in DC.

There are not many folks who would think it possible
to produce such an incredible program in such a short amount of time. But I am so proud of what you were able to produce.
