Production Manager

Job Summary:

Broadcast Management Group is looking to expand its team by adding a full-time Production Manager to support the company’s live production and consulting projects. Primary functions include managing full-time and freelance personnel in the Chicago and New York markets, including building and maintaining production schedules, collecting weekly timesheets, maintaining benefit enrollments and scheduling staff. This position will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the company’s freelance database and assisting with the recruitment of full-time and part-time staff as needed. The Production Manager will be responsible for scheduling all freelance and staff positions for both long-term staffing projects and one-off live productions. The Production Manager will be responsible for maintaining and updating production budgets and actualizing costs. This role requires strong organizational skills and sharp verbal and written communication skills. Our ideal candidate must be a detail-oriented, innovative self-starter with a great work ethic, ability to take initiative and work flexible hours when needed.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Book remote crews, venues, production equipment and locations for live productions and consulting projects
  • Create weekly time reports for clients to review and approve
  • Ongoing engagement with client and other influencers on the quality of our staff, freelancers and contractors
  • Ongoing engagement with our freelancers, staff and contractors on how we can best support them and improve services to our clients
  • Communication with BMG management on any issues timely
  • Recruit freelance, staff and contractor postions nationwide and complete vetting of new hires
  • Enter freelance and contractor invoices into accounting system
  • Create production estimates, prepare and track client production budgets, and negotiate the best rates with freelancers
  • Respond quickly to last minute changes, new projects, people calling in sick or going home sick and insuring a smooth running operation
  • Maintain weekly production schedules for full-time staff in remote markets
  • Create and distribute crew paperwork, including employment agreements, contractor agreements, withholding forms and enrollment forms
  • Facilitate the distribution of all year-end tax forms
  • Manage benefit enrollments for all full-time staff
  • Collect and distribute weekly timesheets working with freelancers, contractors, staff with the payroll service
  • Book freelance labor for short turn-around situations as fill-ins for full-time employees who are sick or on vacation

Requirements:

  • Experience with production scheduling
  • Budgeting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and ability to take initiative
  • Attention to detail, strong follow-through and the demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to travel when needed
