Executive Summary

UBS, a leading global financial institution, partnered with Broadcast Management Group (BMG) to design, build, and operate its U.S. broadcast facility in New York City. Initially launched as an on-premises studio and control room, the project has evolved into a hybrid model that connects on-site production to the BMG Cloud Control Center™ in Washington, DC, for remote management, redundancy, and scale. Through this multi-phase engagement, BMG continues to provide end-to-end managed services encompassing consulting, creative, technical, and operational support.

Background / Challenge

UBS needed a state-of-the-art production environment to enhance its global communications and deliver financial programming directly to its over 5,900 brokers. The goal was to create a facility capable of producing live and on-demand content that matched the polish and reliability of a professional broadcast network—while maintaining security, compliance, and scalability.

As UBS began planning the consolidation of space in the New York City office, it sought to modernize its video operations. Building on BMG’s success with its first facility, UBS once again partnered with BMG to design a next-generation hybrid production model—one that blends on-location control room and studio with cloud-based operations and centralized support through BMG’s Cloud Control Center™.

BMG Engagement by Phase

1. Consulting

BMG began collaborating with UBS’s internal communications team in 2019 to define the creative and technical needs to produce the type of content that would inspire and educate its over 5,900 brokers who are on the front lines of working with UBS’s client base.

  • Conducted several meetings with key stakeholders at UBS.
  • Conducted site surveys and infrastructure analysis of current production facilities.
  • Defined upgrades that were needed for the current control room, studio, and podcast studio.
  • Established workflow design for live and recorded productions.
  • Provided a strategic roadmap for hybrid and remote operation, connecting the new facility to BMG’s cloud ecosystem.

2. Facility Design and Build

BMG’s systems integration division designed and built the new broadcast center from the ground up.

  • Engineered all production systems, routing, and IT architecture.
  • Designed the control room, lighting grid, audio systems, and podcast suite.
  • Integrated redundant IT and signal paths for reliability and remote monitoring.
  • Connected the entire facility to the BMG Cloud Control Center™ for real-time oversight and technical failover.

3. Creative Services

In addition to technical design, BMG’s creative team developed and installed the full studio set and monitor wall.

  • Created a versatile visual environment suitable for financial news, interviews, and internal communications.
  • Designed set lighting, sightlines, and branding elements.
  • Delivered creative consistency with other UBS global media operations.

4. Staffing, Daily Operations, and Engineering Support

BMG continues to support UBS with managed services for live production and technical operations.

  • Provides technical direction, production management, and engineering oversight.
  • Offers remote support, monitoring, and troubleshooting through the Cloud Control Center™.
  • Delivers ongoing maintenance and staff training to ensure smooth daily production.

5. Scale Operations

As UBS modernizes its media footprint, BMG is scaling its services to meet new operational goals.

  • Designing the next-generation hybrid facility that merges on-prem control with cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Implementing a Media Asset Management (MAM) system for secure, cloud-hosted storage, retrieval, and versioning.
  • Providing ongoing consultation for future expansion, automation, and multi-location integration.
