Project Overview

In 2006, the DC Office of Cable Television and Telecommunications (OCTT) entered into a significant partnership and broadcast consulting agreement with Broadcast Management Group. OCTT is responsible for regulating the provision of cable television services by cable providers who operate in Washington, DC. They also manage and operate Washington, DC’s two cable access channels – OCTT 13 and OCTT 16 – and cablecast the University of the District of Columbia’s channel 98.

Pursuant to its new broadcast consulting arrangement with OCTT, Broadcast Management Group provided engineering support and system integration services for a $5.5M upgrade of OCTT’s digital broadcast center, which included a full HD conversion. The goal of the project was to attract more video production for the city of Washington, DC, expand the production talent base in the District, create greater opportunities for DC residents to gain exposure to the video production industry, and to support an HD transition for the current production services the agency provided to DC residents. The facility upgrade included 2 major broadcast studios, 3 editing rooms, graphics rooms, production truck, master control and transmissions.

As part of our broadcast consulting and system integration project for OCTT, Broadcast Management Group produced all technical drawings, consulting on heat loads, HVAC needs and power, and procured all necessary production equipment to complete the upgrade.
