Broadcast Management Group was contracted to provide creative services to support BET’s “UnCONVENTIONAL” series covering the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2016. To support the live production, Broadcast Management Group was responsible for creating the full graphics package, including an animated show open, lower thirds, and bumpers. In addition to the on-screen broadcast graphics for “UnCONVENTIONAL”, our creative services team designed on-set signage for the live production, which tied into the look and feel of the graphics treatment.
The biggest challenge for our creative services team leading up to BET’s “UnCONVENTIONAL” series was designing a graphics treatment with two distinct packages – one for the RNC, one for the DNC – and tying them together to look like a cohesive branding effort. The intro animation featured video clips that were shot in the field at the Republic and Democratic Conventions in Cleveland and Philadelphia, which meant that this had to be updated shortly before the live production.
Leading up to the live production, our creative services team also designed social media content designed to elicit engagement, which tied into the look and feel of the broadcast graphics package. This content was shared and posted on BET’s social platforms leading up to the “UnCONVENTIONAL” series.
