John Steigerwald, Senior Audio Engineer for Broadcast Management Group, is an Emmy award winning audio engineer with a diverse background ranging from music recording and concert touring, to sports and live event broadcasting. His experience developing systems and solutions for a wide range of markets has led to him being an in-demand resource in the freelance market prior to joining BMG.
John’s background in audio started at the age of 13 when he wandered over and struck up a conversation with a DJ service performing at a neighbors party. He soon was assisting with gigs and, within a year, being left to operate systems on his own. In high school he was involved with the schools closed circuit tv station and began mixing friends bands soon after. He would eventually find his way to Aerosmith’s nightclub ‘Mamakin’ in Boston where he became the House Engineer, mixing acts in the evenings while working days as the Director of Manufacturing at Mercenary Audio, a boutique/custom gear supplier serving the recording industry. In 1997 he joined the team at Scorpio Sound Systems as a staff engineer, eventually leading to a decade on the road mixing acts such as Disturbed and Alien Ant Farm for audiences worldwide.
In 2007 he relocated to Las Vegas and transitioned back to broadcast working for HBO Boxing, NASCAR, and the UFC, among others. He has been the audio supervisor for numerous reality shows including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Kitchen Nightmares, Love Island and the past 7 seasons of American Ninja Warrior, one of his personal favorites. In 2018 he was selected to oversee the Dolby Atmos broadcast of the Winter Olympics.
At Broadcast Management Group, John heads up the company’s live audio services as well as working with the company’s systems Integration division in the design of broadcast audio systems.
When not pushing faders, John and his wife Rainee can be found hiking, exploring ghost towns and bouncing their Jeep down remote trails in search of the perfect camping spot.
